Where Have I Been...

Hi everyone,

Yep I've been MIA in the blogging world and mostly because I've been focusing on life offline, more on this a bit later, and I've also found a new addiction.. Yep, I have..

As to what I've been focusing on offline. I decided I've been spending too much time online.. Be it blogs, Facebook etc.. My prayer life has become much neglected which is never a good thing for me or anyone else so I've been trying to get back into that. I also have had two personal letters I've needed to write since March, still haven't completed them but working on them. I have a knitting gift for a friend that I really need to get finished. I've been working on it for months and I'm finally in the home stretch and I haven't read many books lately which is something I do really enjoy.. I haven't felt well in weeks since allergy season started really so that has been making my already low energy level drop even more. Then there is my husband who is pretty much self sufficient when he feels like it and the seven dogs who all need tending too. Feeding, medications, grooming, vet appointments etc.

The biggest thing I've been doing over the last few weeks is debt reduction. There ya have it.. Yes, I have debt.. Who doesn't these days? Those who don't, I congratulate you and hope to soon count myself among you but until then I have been trying to put us on a monthly budget which has been working well the last two months, well sort of when Mr Lou sticks too it. Why is it men don't seem to understand the seriousness of debt without a safety net? Don't get me wrong, Mr. Lou has come quite a ways but in the beginning it was like pulling teeth to get him to change anything so we could start paying the debt down..Now I just have to get him to realize that those "small 10 dollar, 20 dollar purchases" here and there eventually do add up!.. We're working on it..  My new addiction I wrote about is.. drum roll please.... debt blogs! I know, more blogs.. LOL.... but these are blogs who are everyday people like you and I who are in a mountain of debt and are trying to dig their way out and while mine is no where near as much as most of theirs, debt is debt no matter how ya slice it and they inspire me.

You're probably wondering how much debt we're in and the answer to that is, not a terrible amount as a lot of people I know but to me any debt is bad debt and it's especially bad even it's a small amount and you don't have the money to pay it all off right away..then, no matter what the amount you owe it's HUGE... I think I am going to start blogging about my journey out of debt, how and what I'm doing etc. In my next post I will list who we owe and how much and list each time another bill is paid to track my progress. Who knows, maybe, my hope is, it might help someone else. I am also hoping if I begin to blog about it and see it in print it will help me stay on track and motivated..

So I hope you'll stay tuned and maybe even share in the comments if you're doing the same thing...

  1. Hi Robyn -- good for you for getting on a budget & even better than you got your hubby to come around - mine notsomuch. It's a constant battle, I feel like I'm on this journey all by myself. As far as keeping track of totals on your blog, I just added a section of html that I can easily change as I pay bills. I've seen the tickers & if there is a ticker on a blog, there should be a link to get your own, or at least a web site. Good luck :)

    1. Hi Michelle,
Thank you so much for commenting on my blog!...My husband has come around in most ways but still at times, it's a battle.. He's gotten better though.. Thing is I handle all the money and pay all the bills an I've threatened him more than once that I was sick of doing it alone every darn month and getting a headache trying to juggle what gets paid when how do we afford to eat and have some money left over incase we need it..so Ive threatened that I was going to just dump it all in his lap and let him figure it out.. Well he doesn't want that because he doesn't have a clue as to how to go online and pay the bills, make the budget etc.. Thank you for the advice on how to add the totals to my blog. Im going to work on that this morning. I hope you're having an awesome day! :)

  2. You go girl, any way of getting that debt down is a good way. And we all spend a little too much time online, it's good when we realize it.

  3. Good luck with the debt reduction! I'm sure you'll find lots of inspiration and useful information from all the blogs you are finding. I look forward to reading about your journey :-)

  4. Hi Robyn!
I've been hopping around catching up with different bloggers. I'm so glad you came by my blog..I've been wanting to get by here...
I've been On and Off the debt reduction bandwagon. Right now...I'm definitely on the "On" side...but am more focused on budget and spending.
Although we DO have some debt that has cropped back up that needs to be addressed.
Kudos to you for getting this debt knocked out!

Please leave your comments, I love hearing from you! :)
