Mortgages, Foreclosure,Modification Oh My!

Phew! Hello again!

As I said in my return post , I would start at the beginning. My brain doesn't always remember what I did yesterday but I will try and go back as far as I can so you can be up to speed and not missing any pieces of the puzzle I call my life..

Way back in October of 2013 I along with some coaxing of my husband, I made the decision to move back to NJ and for some very good reasons. I had just gotten an estimate from two different dentists that I will need anywhere from $4000.00 to $6000.00 US of work on my teeth. Major problems due to the state of my health. As you can imagine, I panicked. At that time we were also making an astronomical mortgage payment and having to pay homeowners insurance and taxes separately on top of that. Pretty much all our income went to this house and trying to eat and keep the utilities on. Along with the estimates from the dentists everything just snowballed in my head and I 'thought' I knew I needed to get out of here. There were a few, thats an understatement, problems with this though. First and foremost, we had not a single dime to move. No money for a deposit on an apartment or rent, no money to actually move and at the time I had six dogs. Pretty big strikes against renting but that was and always will be our only option.

Long story short, we placed ads on Craigslist in the area's we wanted to be in. We got a few bites, had 4 leases all set to sign and all four fell through at the last moment due to no fault of our own. In the midst of all this I was doing lots and lots of praying because I was totally lost as to what to do and where I was supposed to be. I had also put in hardship papers with our mortgage company hoping they would modify our mortgage. I didn't believe that would ever happen because everyone I spoke to including real estate agents all told me the mortgage company would never do it.. So, I do what I always try and do. I put it all in the hands of the Lord and let Him make the decision.

By April 2014 we were still in our home although now many payments behind as we were saving every dime to move and just waiting to be served with foreclosure papers. We had already received notice from the tax office that if we didn't pay our taxes they would mortgage off our home come November. Well, as God usually does, he answered. His answer came on Good Friday which also happened to be my birthday. The mortgage company DID in fact agree to modify our mortgage for three years and significantly dropped our mortgage payment as well as rolled our insurance and taxes into an escrow account which should have been done to begin with but they wouldn't. So for now, we are staying here for the next three well now, two and a half  years until the agreement is up. If it is not renewed I pray to be in a better financial position by that time to be able to move. In the last six months we haven't been able to save a lot of money because there were certain home improvements that needed to be done. Not wanted to be done but needed to be done so most of the money went there and then there is always Murphy of Murphy's law who rears his ugly head here and there always catching you at the worst times.

In a nutshell that is what happened the first half of this year. In my next post I will update you on other life events..

Write at you soon ! :)

  1. Welcome back Robyn.
When someone "disappears" from their blog, questions always arise.
Glad God took care of your mortgage problem.
    Keep praying!

    1. Hi Christine! Thank you so much for coming to my blog and commenting. I really didn't think anyone was around anymore.. LOL... Yes, He took care of my mortgage problem. For 3 years anyway..still not sure why He would want me to stay in this state when for my health it isn't good for me but His ways are not ours and I just have to trust Him.. Thanks again Christine :)

Please leave your comments, I love hearing from you! :)
