Busy Bee Come See !!

I'm back! The weather has gotten so nice here in my area of South Carolina and it was time to start all the things I've been waiting to do since winter. Come have a look!

I know it's been quite a while since I've been in touch with you all but that's kind of what happens when the weather turns nice here in South Carolina. We really only have a few nice weeks where it isn't too hot yet and the humidity hasn't hit suffocation levels yet and so, when that happens you have to take advantage of it. Let me show you what I've been up too!

We haven't had a garden in many years due to health issue's so this year I was determined to have one. I thought we should try container gardening since getting on the ground and weeding isn't something I or my husband can really handle anymore. We bought these 'garden bags' off of amazon. They are made out of a heavy weight almost canvas but they breath and the water escapes through the bags. So far they seem to be working out well. I pray they are a success. This year we started small and planted tomatoes, Eggplant, four different kinds of Peppers and  made an herb pot that has Basil, two kinds of Parsley, Thyme and Rosemary. The smell is glorious!
As you can see from the above photo the flower beds in the front have suffered from neglect but I am so excited! We are having them redone in about a week with new mulch, some new bushes and flowers!  I also added some new flowers to the pots on the rails and a few hanging plants and some garden flags. Just a few things to kind of pretty it up for now.

Then I got it in my head to take on a major project. Honestly, I don't know why on earth I thought I could do this but I started it so I have to finish it. Thanks to the kindness of our best friend Bill, he has lent me his paint sprayer so I don't have to finish by brush. I painted all this by hand and my RA went ballistic so I am very, very grateful to Bill. It's rained so now I have to wait a day or so for things to dry out to finish. I will post a photo when it's complete.
Our back deck is quite old and we don't have the money to replace it so I figured a little paint may make things look nicer and my philosophy is, work with that you have.

Next up, I need a little stress relief so I always turn to crochet for that. I made myself this beautiful shell stitch shawl. It's perfect for cool summer nights and will also be perfect for spring, fall and winter. I plan on making some other shawls as well for summer in a very thin, lightweight lace pattern.
There you have it folks. We've been busy bee's around here and we still have much to do before the weather stops us. Once it begins to really heat up outside I will be back to regular blogging with writing, audio and videos. I hope you enjoyed seeing what I've been doing. What have you been up too now that Spring and Summer have sprung in most area's?
